My Eye Opening Experience

The day after my sixth birthday I received a gift that was one of the best and worst things that has ever happened to me. I was in a near fatal car accident that in all probability should have ended my young life. But I was given a second chance; I believe I have much more in store for me before I pass on. .
Back when I was living in San Antonio I was a big Arnold Schwartzenagger fan so one of my gifts from my mom was that she was going to take my sister and me to see Total Recall at the theatre. We didn't get to go on my birthday because we were tired from the party and I wanted to play with all of my new toys. The next night we went out to see the movie. After the movie was over I remember walking back to the car and having to go back in to the theatre to go to the restroom. After that we stopped at a Mexican restaurant to pick up some dinner for my dad who had been working late. We were turning left on to Bandara Road when a car ran a red light and T-boned us.
The car hit our station wagon behind the right rear door where I was sitting. Some how I was projected through the window and sent rolling across the glass riddled pavement. I don't remember much else after the initial sound of impact everything just went black.
When I woke and thought it was a dream, like I had fallen asleep in the car and had a nightmare. But this nightmare was real and far from over. I was in the intensive care unit at St. Luke's hospital. I had bandages all over me, everything hurt and was bruised and scraped up. I opened my eyes and saw my family looking back at me. My mom and sister had minor injuries cuts and bruises from the air bags and glass. But I was far worse off. They told me that I we had been in a car wreck and asked if I was ok.
I wasn't ok though I had a lacerated liver and some minor head injuries. I wasn't able to eat anything solid because my liver could rupture spilling toxins into my blood stream and there would be nothing for the doctors to do.
