The prince discovered to Claudio that he loved my niece, your .
Daughter and meant to acknowledge it this night in a dance, and if .
He found her accordant he meant to take the present time by the .
Top and instantly break with you of it (I.ii.9-13).
All of this information gets back to Claudio during the mask ball and he is upset because now he thinks that Don Pedro is really in love with Hero. You would think this would all be clear to him as a misunderstanding, but what can you say, he is a male. This mess is all cleared up later and Hero and Claudio plan to wed. .

Then we move to the set up of Benedick and Beatrice. Yet again we have Don Pedro setting up this false report of love:.
I will teach you how to humour you cousin that she shall fall in love .
With Benedick, and I, with your two helps, will so practice on Benedick that, in despite of his quick wit and his queasy stomach, he shall fall in love with Beatrice (II.i.330-334).
He is determined to play cupid throughout this whole play. So then just as he plans, the guys go out and set up the trap so that Benedick can "over hear" them "noting" about the love of Beatrice for him. The women do the same for Beatrice. The interesting thing between this set up is that they both could have denied it and pushed it aside. However, they both went along with it, because deep down everybody saw the real passion that they shared between them. All of this time they have been masking their true emotions, and having these in-depth arguments when everybody else can see right through their little charade. .
While everyone else is busying themselves with being cupids little elves, Don John is contemplating a cruel and unjust act to break Hero and Claudio apart. He arranges for Borachio and Margret to be in the act of love-making while Claudio and Don Pedro arrive and think that it is Hero instead. More deception, only this time it is evil and set up against Claudio.
