How many of you are planning on eventually having kids? Raise your hand.
For those of you who raised your hand, listen carefully because I"m going to tell you how you can help your child at a young age to, develop physical skills and coordination, get exercise, make friends, learn important teamwork skills, and improve their self-esteem, all while having fun at the same time. .
How is this possible you may ask, the answer is simple, get your children involved in organized sports. .
According to McGraw-Hill Education, when a child participates in a sport, they not only learn the fundamentals of the game; they"re also learning lessons that apply to everyday living. These lessons will most likely remain with your child for the rest of his/ her life.
Playing a sport not only positively impacts a child's physical well being, it also positively impacts their emotional well being. They learn the feelings of joy and excitement that comes from a personal accomplishment, and also learn how to deal with disappointment and failure.
When kids play sports, they always want to win. But in order for their team to win, they will soon learn that success doesn't come without practice and hard work. This helps children understand that to succeed in whatever you are doing, you must put forth effort. .
Another important life lesson that can be learned through sports, is how to work as part of a team. Team members are taught by the coach to encourage and support all players on the team, including those who sit on the bench. .
Learning to take turns, respecting the coach, showing up for practices and games, and being on time, all contribute to the concept of team, and gives young children responsibilities they otherwise wouldn't have had. This helps them learn that they are responsible for their own actions, on and off whatever field they may be playing on.
Children also learn to deal with conflicts and to cooperate, for example if a child playing baseball and and is called out on strikes by the umpire, even if they think it was a ball, they have to respect the umps decision.
