             If we really want to cut our population growth rate on a voluntary basis, we should make abortion available on a voluntary basis, at least in the early stages of pregnancy. Abortion should be accessible to the people that need the procedure and the people who need it should not be criticized for their choice. Abortion is the termination of pregnancy before full development of a fetus. Abortions are performed when a woman has been raped, she got "accidentally pregnant", there could be a birth defect, and other various reasons. These are all legitimate reasons to have to procedure done. Women deserve the right to have a legal abortion when they request it. .
             The issue with abortion is still a well-worn path discussing the controversies between condemnation and choice even three decades after the Roe vs. Wade case in 1973 that legalized abortion in the U.S. This issue has been a debate ever since the conclusion of the Supreme Court case Roe vs. Wade. In this issue people are divided into two groups: pro-life or pro-choice. Since this issue is a moral and ethical, the issue will never be solved. Author Harriet Pilpel, argues that in order to keep the population down abortion needs to be accessible and easy. Abortion is the most widespread method of fertility control in the modern world. Abortion is indeed the chief method of birth control in the world today, and they estimated that about 30 million pregnancies are purposely terminated by abortion each year. Since abortion is so difficult to obtain, we force the birth of millions of unwanted children every year. .
             "The reason for the enactment of the laws was not protection of morals or the soul of the fetus, but rather a reflection of the fact that at the time all surgical procedures were highly risky because of the probability of infection". Today the situation is reversed. With the use of our technology, abortions are becoming safer than actual childbirth.
