Two Towers

The Two Towers is the second installment in the epic fantasy saga, The Lord of the Rings. In this film we see the return of Frodo Baggins played by Elijah Wood and Sam (Sean Astin). We also have the return of Gandolf (Ian McKellen), Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), and Gimli (John Rhys-Davies). The other two Hobbits Merry (Dominic Monaghan) and Pippen (Billy Boyd) also make their respective return. Peter Jackson, who also directed The Fellowship of the Ring, which laid the groundwork for this film, directed the film. The entire trilogy was filmed in New Zealand over a three-year period. The film introduces a series of new characters to include Theoden (Bernard Hill) the king of Rohan and Eowyn (Miranda Otto) Theoden's niece. This movie continues the epic adventure that is Lord of the Rings.
The Two Towers picks up where the Fellowship of the Ring left off. It begins with Frodo and Sam moving through the mountains towards Mordor, however they are hopelessly lost. They encounter a strange creature known as Gollum who becomes their guide to Mordor. At the same time Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are tracking Uruk-hai that have taken Pippen and Merry as captives. They encounter the Riders of Rohan and Eothain (Sam Comery) who is the nephew of Theoden and was banished from Rohan. Eothain tells Aragorn that they have slaughtered the Uruk-hai and the two hobbits that they have been tracking. The three heroes" discover that the hobbits escaped into Fangorn Forest. It is in Fangorn that Pippen and Merry meet a new friend, Treebeard who is an Ent, a Shepard of the forest who is actually an enormous walking talking tree.
Pippen and Merry spend most of the film trying to convince Treebeard and the other Ents to help in the fight against Sauron. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli pursue the hobbits only to find that Gandolf has been resurrected to aid them in the battle for middle earth.
