With the usability of computers and the Internet rising everyday, more and more people are investing in personal computers. These people use their computers for many different reasons. Although there are many categories of users, most users fit into one or more of the following categories.
Game freaks are those who will stand in line for hours to be the first to buy the latest game. Many of these people can name off every character in a game series; however, they can't name the president of the United States. The areas surrounding the game freaks" computers consist of dozens of empty game boxes, numerous strategy guides, and more peripherals, such as joysticks and game pads, than one person will ever need.
Shoppers have nearly every item that he or she may need, although these people never leave the house. Shoppers hold accounts on the websites of most large stores, such as JC Penneys and Sears. If anyone could know of a sale weeks in advance and buy what he or she wanted without fighting the crowd, it would be the shopper. A telltale sign that a person is a shopper would be that they are on a first name basis with the United Parcel Service (UPS) delivery person who brings him or her all of the newly purchased items.
Downloaders will search all over the Internet for anything that they can download for free. These people generally have a hard drive filled with items they have downloaded, such as game demos, MP3's, video files, pictures, etc. If one was to look through the files on the computer of a downloader, he or she may find over 100 demos, although the person has never bought a game before in their entire existence.
Those people who are chatters thrive off long distance conversations. A chatter can be an "e-mail" chatter, one who relies on their e-mail service to keep in contact with old friends who no longer live close by or to keep up with the current gossip that is spreading through town.
