Cloning

Cloning is the process of creating a copy of a plant or animal that is genetically identical to the original. There are three types of cloning methods the first is Embryo cloning. The second is reproductive cloning and the third is therapeutic cloning. Embryo cloning is a technique, which produces identical twins or triplets. It duplicates the process that nature uses to produce twins or triplets. Or more cells are removed from a fertilized embryo and encouraged to develop into one or more duplicate embryos. This process has been done many years on various species of animals. Reproductive cloning is a technique, which is intended to produce a duplicate of an existing animal. It has been used to clone a sheep and other mammals. The DNA from an ovum is removed and replaced with the DNA from a cell removed from an adult animal. Then fertilized ovum is implanted in a womb fro there it is to develop in a new animal. Therapeutic cloning is a process in which the initial stages are identical to adult DNA cloning. The stem cells are removed from the pre-embryo, producing tissue or a whole organ for a transplant back into the person who supplied the DNA. The goal of therapeutic cloning is to produce healthy copy of sick person tissue or organ from transplant. This supply is unlimited so there will be no waiting lists. The sick person will have the original DNA. (Cloning process).
The rapid development of the technology for cloning has led to moral debates around the world on whether or not to ban creating human clones. With the advancement of clone technology two states Michigan and California have already banned the cloning of humans. Cloning can provide a way for fertile couples to produce children genetically similar to themselves. Human cloning can provide benefits to mankind and should not be banned. Cloning is a process that has been debated for decades. The thought of cloning has been around since the turn of the century.
