Finally, knowing one's learning style can dramatically expand one's knowledge base. Therefore, an improvement strategy will be created and presented based upon all of the points presented. .
First, I began my journey to understand exactly what my learning style consists in. I initially had to answer the question "What is a learning style." One researcher, Diane Lamarche-Bisson, concludes, "It is a preferred way of acquiring knowledge and processing information. A learning style affects how we learn, how we solve problems, and how we work, how we participate in different activities, how we react in a group, and how we relate to others around us" (268). Another researcher, who introduced learning styles to the educational vocabulary in the mid-60s, Dave Kolb, concluded, "[ ] we each have a preference, a unique frequency, for receiving and processing information" (28). He coined the term "learning style to explain this preference. By defining learning style, you can see that our learning style has an effect on almost every aspect of our lives. .
I have discovered that my personal learning style is a continual work in progress. To date, I have over 31 years of life experiences, each and every one coming in at different directions and contributing to my personal style of learning. As you progress in life, so does your learning style. As adults we cannot help but to bring our life experiences into every learning situation.
