Personal Development

This term we have covered a range of topics in PD, all of which have been aimed to aid us in developing and maturing as young women.
             Personality Traits.
In understanding your own personality, and accepting it, you have the ability to change. You can pay more attention to your studies and fulfilling your goals, if that is where your weakness lies. After completing the survey given to us in class, I discovered that my personality is most fitted to "expressive". From this I have gained the knowledge that in setting objectives I can achieve my purpose. In saying that though, I also realized that to achieve my wants I have to pay more attention to my weaknesses; for example, focusing more on time control and organization.
             Self Esteem.
My self esteem is boosted and diminished by others words and actions towards me, and the things I have done. For example, If I were to have painted a picture for art and someone said to me "That's really great, you've done such a good job", my self esteem level would rise, and this would also in turn reflect upon my emotions, as with high self esteem and confidence there is a tendency for me to portray happier emotions. On the other hand, if someone said to me "That painting sucks, you haven't done very well", then my self esteem would diminish and I am more likely to feel emotions such as anger and sadness, because I would see it as having failed somehow. To deal with this, I have learnt to either ignore negative comments, or use them constructively so I can achieve more. .
             Emotions.
Emotions are stirred in me for various different reasons, as I mentioned earlier I think emotion is directly linked with self esteem. An emotion of mine, which effects how I am perceived by others, is anger. Through personal development, I have learnt that this is not only hurtful to myself, but to those around me, and it can have long lasting effects on my friendships. To deal with this problem, I have discovered that I can vent my anger through constructive means; such as listening to music or playing the guitar.
