The History of Google

            In January 1996, a new search engine was designed as a research project by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two Ph.D. students at Stanford University. They named the search engine "BackRub," and it's creation was the beginning of a fascinating new era in internet technology. Soon after it's inception, BackRub was given a new name; "Google." .
             The name "Google" originated from a misspelling of "googol," which refers to 10100, the number represented by a 1 followed by one hundred zeros. The word "Google" has become such a household word that in 2006, it was added to the Oxford English Dictionary. OED defines Google as, "to use the Google search engine to obtain information on the Internet." .
             The beginnings of Google was much like the start of every trailblazing website. It was the research project of two PhD. students who hypothesized that a search engine which could analyze the relationships between multiple websites would produce better search results than the existing techniques.
             BackRub was first part of the university's domain, but when traffic became too heavy for the university to maintain, the website was moved to a domain outside the university and was renamed Google. One thing that made Google an insatant success was it's search speed; taking mere seconds to provide a plethora of topic relevant results. .
             For a while, Google's Stock Price was around $ 110, but it is now traded at around $500. What made this big difference? In order to understand why Google's stock price increased to reach this level we have to understand what makes it special from the way they treat their employees. In order to understand why Google is considered the best place to work in according to Fortune magazine, we have to understand the reasons behind that. First, the company has a relaxed corporate culture. Employees work with little pressure from management. If they finish a project, then they can have a break from work until they have another one.
