For the self discovery assignment, I decided to take a day trip to the Santa Cruz Natural Bridges State Park. The reason for choosing this particular location was because this park contains numerous tide pools which contain living organisms that are brought to shore during high tide. .
During this assignment I found myself investigating the tide pools like a kid going on a grand adventure. Another reason for choosing this particular location is because I think that the sound of the waves crashing on the shore is very relaxing especially since I was trying to have a stress-free day. .
The drive on highway 17 was very enjoyable, I found myself rocking out to oldies and country music; I wouldn't ever catch myself rocking out to these genres on the way to school or around San Jose area. When I was riding through Santa Cruz the locals were looking at me for rocking out to country, maybe because they've never seen an Asian male rock out to country out loud. Since this ride I've been rocking out to country everywhere I drive; primarily music by Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker, and my favorite oldies country singer Don Williams. Some of the observations that I noticed are ones that I desire in the future, couples and restored cars. I felt that in order to obtain the desire to find my significant other I need to continue working hard at the gym but realized that would only be part of the equation for succeeding this goal. I consider the lecture on whole messages when I think about these types of observations; "What you see, what you think, what you feel, and what you need.".
Before I found a spot to relax at Natural Bridges State park, I had a very informative conversation with a local who was going to a location on the beach where locals usually went to catch fish. I decided to practice my opening a conversation skill that I learned in a lecture. This skill paid off because I was able to discover a key location of where to catch some decent sized fish; I let the Santa Cruz local know that over the summer I plan to pick up fishing as another hobby to add to my repertoire.
