The New Millennium of Education

Reasoning, that the heat he felt when rubbing two sticks together could possibly ignite dry materials, he put his hypothesis to the test, and created a man made flame. Thus, by way of scientific inquiry and technical application, civilization was advanced.              Since the development of fire, early inventors and their modern-day counterparts have imagined and created an abundance of amazing inventions. Today, we take these discoveries for granted, as if they appeared by magic out of thin air. Rarely, does one stop to consider the store of scientific knowledge that fostered the many technological conveniences, Americans now enjoy.              21st Century Math and Science Education in Preparation of a Workforce.
There is a drastic decline (15%) in the number of college graduates who receive degrees in engineering or the natural sciences (SCANS, 1991). The downward spiral in university graduates with scientific knowledge is important, because innovative discoveries are the energy that powers the American economy and technical development.
