The complex topic of same sex marriage is based on should we or shouldnt we accept it. What is the point of marriage? Marriage shouldnt be available to only a man and a woman. Where I stand in this case is in agreement with same sex marriage. In the readings Whats in a word? For Better, For Worse and Gay Marriage, the authors explain the different outlooks that many people have upon how a traditional marriage is worked and on the fact of how children are affected in this situation. Whether it is okay for one to go through such troubles the way our generation has become is most definitely different than it was in the past. Many traditions have charged over the past years. Nothing is the same. Even holidays are celebrated differently in this day and age. Many things have become acceptable in society but we still tend to not accept same sex marriages.
The first source I am using is Gay Marriage which states that fewer than half the American children this year will live to the age 18 with both their father and mother present. (Frum 118). This statement alone shows that a child is already set up to not live the standard life as years past. When talking about same sex marriage it is up to one to decide what they want to believe in.
