His confidence and relaxed state of mind was very comforting for many of his audience who had traveled all over the world to hear his speech. His speech made the Fifty-Sixth Inaugural Ceremonies a well-attended Presidential Inauguration to date in history. The event was historical because it marked the day America presented they're first African-American president. President Obama was someone who believed in democracy and stood for reconciliation, honesty, equivalence and the rule of law. Presidents Obama's inauguration speech was not only limited to those who had braved the cold to hear him speech live, millions of people watched his address live stream on their television as well as on the internet.
Additionally, President Obama main goal was to convince a public anxious for liberation and retrieval that he was an effective enough leader to challenge all Americans to accept responsibility for the changes they would like to see. President Obama maintained extraordinary eye contact with his audience. He rarely looked at the camera. His focus was on his audience, even though he swiftly turned his head from side to side. President Obama started off his speech by establishing credibility with his audience. He elaborated on the need for change and why he needs to push America in new directions to get things running how it supposed to. Obama noted that "For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of our economy calls for action, bold and swift. And we will act, not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together.
