The Stresses of Being a College Student


" Your diet and sleeping patterns will change suddenly. While facing intensified academic demands your support group that has helped you, no longer there. The classes rare more extensive reading than high school classes, some longer, having more frequent papers of deeper nature met with longer length. The money your parents are paying or receiving from aid is a good sum of money for your education and life expenses. Feeling a moral imperative to do as well as possible, back in high school it was fairly easy for you; that strong study system you had is now a laugh in college works. .
             To that a student has a reality of three choices in their college careers, "sleep," "social life," and "good grades." A student may choose to get a lot of sleep. Then focus their time towards a sound GPA or a third alternative is they choose to participate in a fun and exciting social life. All three are equally important to the college experience and one way or another, as their careers advance students will realize the importance of time management. Some pickup easier than others, though some may have to suffer a month of sleep deprivation and falling grade percentages to get their priorities straight. As for other students it'll take years of being in and out of enrollment to figure out what it is they want. "Too much of a good thing" is often a wake up for those who get stuck, and after months of sleeping in late and partying all night. Many realize that there is a potential they have wasted and become tired and envious of seeing fellow peers pass them by in life.
             Coming into college calls for more effort from students than high school. Incoming students will see on campus that their peers seem more active than them. Instructors will be more demanding. Assignments are more arduous, and students expected to be more self-sufficient. Colleges' raise academic standards and expectations, making it more perceptible in graduate school.
