The Seminary was where Staling revolted the first time and began his revolutionary career as a part of Marxist group. Stalin began to read about Karl Marx and read the communist manifesto. When Joseph was eventually kicked out of the seminary he continued to be with the other Marxists. He then met members from the Social Democratic Party and joined them. Stalin later got caught for causing and planning a violent riot against the police, and was sent to prison for a year and exiled to Siberia for three years. While he was in jail, the Social Democratic Party than split into two parts. One of the parties was Mensheviks, which were more traditional ideas. The other party was the Bolsheviks, who promoted revolutionary ideas. Stalin escaped from prison and went back to join the Bolsheviks which was ran by Vladimir Lenin. While Stalin was doing a revolutionary movement for Lenin, he was again caught by the czar's police. Stalin spent eight more years in Siberia. However Stalin's patience was rewarded and he was sent him on the path to ultimate power. .
             When Joseph got full power of USSR in 1879 he wanted to make a "commanding economy" by forcing industries and farmers to industrialize no matter what. Stalin firmly believed that USSR was a hundred years behind Europe and that this could be fatal. To kick start the industrial and agricultural revolution he made the Five Year Plan. The goal of the Five Year Plan was to make USSR a modern agricultural and industrial country. To achieve this Stalin took control of the farms and industries. This caused organization and a more centralized goal, which meant there would be many more factories and farms. Factories and businesses were all given goals to meet every year for a five year period. The penalties for not reaching goal were extremely harsh. Managers and workers would get executed, exiled or work all day and all night. While the industries were thriving the agriculture would be collectivized.
