In the novel Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley a man named Victor Frankenstein travels to the North Pole and meets a man named Robert Walton. Robert helps nurse Victor back to health because the ice and cold dog sledding through the North Pole weakened him. Both Victor and Robert are men who enjoy exploring and doing different things. Victor tells Robert of a creature that he has created back at home. He describes this creature as a large monster, and says it is very dangerous. Victor is a very smart man; he went to a top university called Ingolstadt, and studied philosophy and chemistry.
Victor is horrified at his creation, and abandonees it to go home to Geneva. On his way home he receives news that his younger brother is dead. Victor immediately thinks that the monster is guilty, because the cause of death was strangling. When Victor finally makes it home, he finds out that a quite girl named Justine Moritz has been accused for his brother's murder. Sadly she is executed, and never admitted to what charges were brought against her. In hopes to get away from his depression he takes a vacation far away to the mountains, unfortunately the monster approaches him, and basically admits that he killed his brother to get Victors attention. The monster feels abandoned by his creator, and asks him desperately for him to create another monster as a friend for him. Victor eventually gives into the monsters demand, one night he was working on creating another monster, but realized he couldn't do it. Late that night he drops the remains of the monster in the lake, but a storm hit and couldn't make it back to shore, he ends up in a random town. When he arrives in the new town he was informed that he is a suspect in a murder case of his friend Henry Clerval. He knows that the monster did this and this makes him upset. Upon this whole ordeal Victor becomes very sick, and is not tried in the case. .
Victor returns home to marry a woman named Elizabeth.
