My Experience in Professional English

English has been one of the worlds most influential languages for at least a couple of centuries now. Ever since the glory days of the great naval British empire it has been up there and now in the age of information and technology it is perhaps used more than ever before. Certainly it hasn't slipped past me unnoticed – I too have had at least some experience using English. My future field of expertise – information technologies is one of such unique experiences for me. .
First of all, let me state that in my humble opinion it is quite difficult to separate different aspects and layers of language. I would rather let linguists and philologists do such a bloody dissection. To me any language is almost a living, breathing thing that has evolved naturally in hundreds and hundreds of years through mouths, minds and hearts of thousands and thousands of people. I am no different – this language came very organically to me and I have built my English skills very gradually. It all started with turtles. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be exact. I'd guess I was maybe 5 years old and I remember my dad helping my older brother with whatever you need help in third grade English course. He helped him with the pronunciation of months: January, February, March, April. April! The adventurous journalist April O'Neil was one of the characters of the previously mentioned cartoon. Somehow hearing that word was enough for me to light a spark that has never extinguished since then. I took the book my brother was learning from and in a week or so I knew most of the things the third graders were supposed to learn that semester. .
Judging by my own experience I'd say that it is easy to teach something to someone (especially if that someone is a kid) by methods that include having fun, preferably a great deal of it. My first bits of computer related English knowledge came via playing video games.
