Class Instructor Observation

"6:00 o'clock, it's time to start class," the teacher says at the beginning of each class initiating the class to put away any electronics and devices they may have out. Tonight's class however, is the same as any other class period as you can scan across the room and see every student doing their own thing. Some are doing homework for other classes, and some are on their phones texting, the teacher is either unaware or does not care. Why is it that this teacher seems to lose the interest of his students so easily? Could it be due to it being an evening class? Or maybe is this teacher just not capable of holding the attention of a group of peers for so long? .
After many classes with this same instructor, it is easy to note that the teacher's voice ranges do not differ, he is very monotone and doesn't seem all to enthusiastic about what he is teaching. There is hardly any interaction between the teacher and his students during the four hours that they are there together in the classroom. The only thing that gets the teacher thrilled when talking, is when the subject is relating to something he has either done in the past for a job or what he is currently working on now. He is constantly getting off topic and talking about things that pertain to his personal life or how to start a business and what type of business he would like to start next. .
When the instructor teaches, the chapters he goes over have very little visual aid. Rarely will he write on the board on how to do a certain problem or how they got to the answer that they reached. This is more of a class that the teacher just stands in one spot, talking about the bold words in the text. What happened to the usage of PowerPoint presentations during class? Why is he not considerate of those that are not just auditory learners? Lastly, why does he not seem too concerned with keeping his students engaged in the subject he is teaching? .
