Life

Life constantly changes whether we like it or not. Most of the time we are unprepared; so when a bad change comes our way we fall into a state of shock and disbelief and we tend to see only the negative side of our situations. It is therefore very important that we learn to adapt to these changes. This quality not only enables us to function as normally as possible in different situations, but it also helps us to be a happier person, and to stimulate personal growth. .
From personal experience, I have realized the importance of adapting to change so that I can keep the highest amount of normalcy as possible. Being a national gymnast, I often practice for many hours on the same equipment, so it often comes as a big change when I must compete in a different gym with different equipment. Sometimes I have to adjust to a new country and time zone soon enough so that I will be able to do my best during the competition. Another occasion in which this quality would help someone to stay as calm and cool as possible would be when someone loses his or her job. It would be very important for this person to adapt to their new situation so they can get another job as soon as possible, and move on with their lives. .
Secondly being able to adapt to change helps us to have a happier person. Instead of dwelling on the negativity that comes from the change, one can learn to accept and embrace the change. By doing this, the positive things that may come from the change become easier to see, and people will not feel as depressed or down about their lives. This can also help to prepare people to try to keep a positive attitude when life changes again. One example of this would be when a child has to move houses and schools. The child would probably be very upset and frustrated and would be unprepared for such a big change. He would likely not do well at his new school and have trouble making new friends, however, by adapting to the new school and house, and accepting that his situation cannot change, he might realize that he has the opportunity to make and find new friends.
