College Leadership Essay

During my four years in highschool, I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to learn about the qualities of good leaders and to participate in leadership roles. Being a leader is something that is an everyday job. Just because there isn't a label, such as chairperson or president, doesn't mean that I'm not a leader every day. I've found myself standing above a hundred, twenty, five kids my own age and telling them what to do. Exodus 18:21 states, Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens. I believe I fit this verse well and hope I can lead further in life. Some of the leadership Ive grown in has been Youth in Government, Boys State, and my church. .
Being a leader isn't always as massive a job as being the President or a pastor, but it is as important. I found myself elected to run a House of Representatives during my time in Youth in Government. My week as Speaker showed me that being a leader requires a lot of help from others, peers and supervisors, and that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. Leadership can be furthered through actions taken, but it cannot be learned or taught. Some people will grow up to do great things and never know leadership and these men are just as important as the President or the Pope. I am very outgoing and I love to meet new people because I can broaden myself and my mind. Being a leader is something I strive for in wherever I go and whatever I do. .
An ego is something a leader needs, always, for failure is constant and unending. Failure awaits around every corner of life, yet, we do not embrace it, we shun failures in our society. I have failed many a time in my life and some are large, some are small. My parents are the ones who taught me, through action, how to cope with failing small or large tasks.
