The Burden of Illegal Immigrants in America

The program was cut when Americans complaining that they were having their jobs stolen by illegal immigrants. .
The next big increase of illegal immigrants was in 1965, when the Immigration Act was passed. This increased both legal and illegal immigration. After, the United States passed multiple amnesties, which legalized over 4 million illegal immigrants from 1986 to current day. The biggest amnesty legalized over 3 million illegal aliens. The amnesty's were suppose to stop more illegal immigrants from coming over, but instead it increased it. More immigrants were hoping to become citizens without having to go through the citizenship process. Every president has had to deal with immigration as one of their major issues in office. Everything that has been put in place will not stop illegal immigrants from coming into the United States. The government needs to find a way to stop illegal immigration once and for all.
"U.S. taxpayers will fork over $12 billion for border security this year" (Vetter, Ryan). Only $1.4 million of that will be spent on the United States and Canadian border, which is 5,000 miles long. While more money goes towards the United States and Mexico border. Spending $12 billion alone in 2012 on United States borders might seem like a lot, but border control apprehended 365,000 undocumented immigrants, seized over $1 billion of counterfeit goods, and stopped over 4 millions pounds of narcotics from getting into the United States. The increase of enforcement is one of the few things that has ever been able to decrease illegal immigrants from trying to cross our borders.
Immigrants come to the United States for many reasons. Most of the time it is for a better opportunity than what they use to have where they lived. The reason they are leaving their country might not be because America provides them with opportunity. Instead, it could be since their country does not provide them with any opportunities to make a living, so they must leave.
