Gun Control

In this essay I will be working on getting my reader to question guns, and how they pertain to their life. Also, the governments approach to the issues surrounding gun control.
Envision a world where gang's rule America's streets, a world where the only guns are in the hands of criminals. A world where cops are hunted like deer, and the average citizen dares not to walk the streets. This could become reality, and no, not from the Apocalypse (1), but from something as simple as anti-gun laws being passed. This is a world that will soon exist if we (the people) do nothing to stop it. Gun control is not the simple solution for a safe society. The way to achieve safety is not to control guns, but the people with guns. Stop the movement by being smart about laws and realizing the effects they have on peoples freedoms and behaviors.
The government is fighting guns at the wrong level. The government is addressing the problems toward the easily understood solution by trying to control the devices used in crimes and killing. Rather than focusing on the root of the problem, instead, ask, "Why do people want and use guns?" Their current policies are a band-aid approach to an epidemic; they fail to address the deeper issues and problems facing society. If not dealt with properly, the very laws that are designed to help the society will in fact take away fundamental principles critical for a healthy, functioning society.
"Guns" kill people. Over the years that very statement has been used to revoke what America stands for today. The blood of patriots was spilled for the constitution, for freedom; and many other battles have been fought over personal freedoms and liberties. If the current trend continues thousands may have died in vain. A bill in 1994, signed by president Clinton, banned the sale of some semi-automatic weapons. In my opinion all he succeeded in doing was to start a gun-revolution, and became a president who contradicted the constitution.
