Legalizing Gambling

The legalization of public gambling for the state of Nebraska could improve the economy in many different ways. There are many thoughts on why legalizing gambling would be a good idea, but it is all viewed differently from person to person. It all depends if one has any experience in the area or not. I believe that many good things would happen to our state if we were able to have casinos. .
On the opposing side, however, gambling also has an addictive effect, and can embrace ones life, or ruin it. I have heard of studies that were done over the years to indicate that gambling is a disease, much like alcoholism. .
It seems like gambling is almost a bigger deal here because there aren't as many things to do, as in other states. I feel that Iowa is greatly benefiting from the citizens of Omaha because they spend all their hard earned money in the Iowa casinos. Nebraska gets nothing out of it. Iowa in a way has been taking Nebraska tax money, due to the fact that some of their employees are from Nebraska itself. .
Some say they don't deny that casinos can be profitable, but they are doubtful that the funding from casinos will be distributed properly. The truth is, the tax money that they are making would go to funding public schools, adding new and improved traffic signals, helping out with government funding for college hopefuls who aren't financially stable enough to afford a college education. Our universities which as of now are suffering because of federal funding would be restored with college students and Omaha would look better because of their outstanding federal funding programs. .
The people of Council Bluffs have been noticing the downtown beautification which has improved a lot, because they have taken notice of older buildings that have an old market feel to them, its causing them to have more tourists, some of which are from Omaha. If people are noticing older buildings in the older parts of Council Bluffs then imagine the possibilities that we could have.
