Many times, we watch a show such as Friends, and think that none of the situations the characters go through are close to the ones we experience in the real world. I find this statement to be quite false. Each character on the sitcom Friends has their own unique personality that contributes to the issues that arise on the show. Between Monica and Chandler's relationship, Rachel's single-motherhood, and Ross's continuing divorce rate, many people can relate to some aspect of the characters" lives. Although Friends is a television show created for entertainment value, it takes real-life issues and portrays them through the eyes of different characters. .
Each episode of Friends brings about a new issue for one of the characters to overcome. For instance, the new season begins with Rachel on her new journey down motherhood. The countless hours of care, sleepless nights, and endless numbers of diaper changes keep this single mother on her toes. Although she gets help from Ross, the father of her baby, Rachel has found that mothering is no walk in the park. .
Now I know that Rachel is not the only woman in the world going through this kind of a situation. There are many single mothers trying to make it through the hard times. Rachel may have it a little easier than some in the real world, but the concept is still the same.
