Self help; toilet trained, washes face without help, dresses and undress without help, buttons one or more buttons, usually looks both ways before crossing street, goes to the toilet without help. Gross motor; uses pedals when riding a tricycle, hops on one foot without support , skips or makes running " broad jumps", swings on a swing pumping by self.
Fine motor: draws or copies a complete circle, cuts across paper with small scissors, draws recognizable pictures, draws a person that has at least three parts such as head, eyes, nose mouth, language; combines sentences with the words " and, "or", " but", counts five or more objects when asked " how many", understands concepts , size, number, shape, follows a series of three simple instructions, reads a few letters( five+), tell meaning of familiar words (Ireton,2007). Three appropriate activities that will enhance a child's cognitive, motor, social emotional, language are the following; The first activity, Nature Walk (science), Goal- children will expand their knowledge of and respect the environment, Objective- children will take a Nature walk to observe the environment, Materials- book: What a street! Children will be taking a brown bag on their Nature Walk and chart to write down what the children say. Introduction- teacher will read the book- What a street! , then children will be taking a nature walk around the playground and the school.
Question that will be ask to the children; how would you think if the playground would look dirty? , What do you think about the items you put in the brown bag? Where do you think the trash will go after we clean up the playground and Procedure; once the children have an understanding of respecting the environment, the children will see the difference between clean and dirty. The children will be taking around the playground and collect trash and talk about the items they put inside the brown paper bag and praise the children on their excellent participation.
