In the Name of Beauty

So how much of this is caused by women we see in magazines, on billboards and filling our Instagram news feeds? Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), is described as a distinct mental disorder in which a person has symptoms of a medical illness, but the symptoms cannot be fully explained by an actual physical disorder. People who suffer from this often see themselves as ugly or too big and turn to things such as plastic surgery to try to improve how they see themselves in the mirror. Though everyone else may see a 5'3" female who is probably a size 2, she would see someone who is fat and would dress in ways to hide her body.
