Social Media and a Changing Society

7). Thus, as you can see most of these teenagers' parents are uneducated about the fact that their teenagers can go into any abortion clinic and get an abortion as much times as they want. Some of the reasons these teenagers commit these actions is because they desire attention and want to be noticed or they believe they can become famous just like the girl's from "16 and pregnant". .
Another example is bullying and how the social media makes it inescapable for those who have been victimized by others. "Bullying is far different today than it was even a decade ago. The entwining of social media in adolescents' social lives has created a whole new environment for abuse" (Leung, 2012, para.3). What does that really mean? It means that bullying can now be done behind the screen through social media networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Formspring etc. According to Dailymail.co.uk "It found 28 per cent of children aged 11 to 16 had experienced bullying on the internet or via a mobile phone" (Brooke, 2012, para.2). One mother said who which her daughter was a victim of cyberbullying "You can't get away from cyber-bullies unless you take everything away from [your kids] and you can't do that" (Leung, 2012, para.9). Thus, meaning that where ever these victims of bullying go, the harassments and threats will go on. Here figure 1 shows the incidents of cyberbully in a span of 30 days from the ages 10-18 years old. .

We also tend to put them on a pedestal and that if they commit an unlawful action we deem it fine or we backlash or criticize to the point where for example we become bullies.
