Over the semester I have learned many new and different techniques that I can use for teaching. But there were three that I thought that stuck out the best. The first was giving a lecture and at the same time asking questions. What I mean by that is while giving the lecture, involve the students by asking them questions about what you have already gone over. By constantly asking them questions it keeps the student very involved with the information that you are presenting.
The second technique that I learned was a demonstration method. When a presenter was giving a lecture about a topic, he or she would use materials to go along with the lecture. For example, if there was a instructor giving a lecture on how to change a tire he or she would actually demonstrate, by using the nessecary tools and equipment, how a change a tire. This method was very effective because it not only gave the student a better perspective but also gave the student a more exciting approach to the topic.
The last teaching method that I thought was most useful was team building. This technique is excellent to bring together students or co-workers to work together to accomplish a project or a certain task. By using this technique students and trainees will focus on subjects that they need to learn because when it affects one it affects them all. I thought this was a great technique to use.
When I decide what technique I will use on a certain group it will depend on what kind of group that I am teaching. If it is a group that tends to just want to listen to someone talk then I will use the lecture method. If it is a group that needs things demonstrated to them then I will use the demonstration method. And finally if it is a group that looks like they would work really well together than I would use the group method. .
The information that I was given this semester will be very useful when I begin to start training people or becoming a teacher.
