            In my research report proposal I hope to study the issues of transportation and mobility in the Greater Toronto Area. The purpose of this issue being examined is due to its importance and the crucial role it plays in the development of an easier accessible and environmentally friendly city as well as World. The issue of transportation and mobility has become a great concern in Toronto and the excessive use of the automobile and the great Urban Sprawl developing in the city has lead to two major problems to be solved in the Greater Toronto Area. .
             The first of these problems is the growing concern of pollution and the role it plays on the environment. The use of the automobile is increasing rapid and is becoming a full-grown problem for environmental protection Agency's as well for the city transit commissions and services. The automobile is used by about 70% of the cities population and this is an extensive deal in comparison with only 30% using public transport. This is a great concern primarily due to the massive air pollution that is undergone in the city and the effect it may have on the health of the elderly citizens and the future generations who might be born in the middle of an air quality disaster due to the actions taken by the people of this day and age. This problem of automobile pollution and air quality has brought about a great obstacle for the transit organizations and government officials in the city. The growing concern of automobile reliance and environmental degradation has brought about a great deal of pressure for the transit organizations. These organizations that include the Toronto transit commission, Markham Transit, Richmond Hill transit, Mississauga transit and Vaughn Transit are being put under a great deal of pressure by the government and citizens to create more efficient routes to connect the city of Toronto with the surrounding areas of the GTA (Halton, Peel, Durham).
