             First impressions are crucial when getting to know someone. One learns how new people present themselves in a social situation, and what their typical brand of humor is. When meeting a person of the opposite sex the first impression can be crucial. It is the opportune time when newly acquainted people decide whether they are physically attracted to one another. The most crucial point of the first meeting is the physical contact or, the handshake. It shows many things about a person in a matter of seconds.
             The basic handshake: The basic handshake, unfortunately, does not give much intuition into one's personality. It is characteristically a simple hello and a quick, one arm drop of the wrist in a vertical motion, usually followed by a smile and a quick slide to the next person. This handshake is normally present on the social scene and is mandatory to keep up with the introductions so as not to forget anyone. When given this handshake one should not take it too seriously. It shows the person is eager to get to know everyone around. .
             The aggressive handshake: The aggressive handshake can tell someone a lot about a person. The aggressive handshake consists of three basic components: the quick dive for one's hand followed by three forceful shakes and a wide smile. Typically, the aggressive handshake comes from someone who is outgoing in nature and not afraid to confront a person. Normally, this handshake is common in the male persuasion and usually reserved for someone of the same sex. However, on a rare occasion an especially flamboyant female may use this one. Be prepared.
             The half hug: This particular handshake, when given on a first meeting can be risky. It is typically reserved for men who have close relationships, however it can also be used during a special gathering, or meeting. Nevertheless, those who are daring in their shaking of hands will throw this one out to the public.
