Minority Report

African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, American Indians, and other ethnic groups share something in common in that we are all minorities in the United States. The American government simply considers minorities to be the distinct groups of people who are not a part of the Caucasians majority. Politically, minorities are the groups that have fewer than the controlling number of votes. Yet the denotation of the term minority merely grasps onto the struggle and success story of one. .
A minority is not just an immigrant whose fate was decided by his/her parents one simple day. It is one whose parents had to surrender surroundings they were once familiar to hoping that their children may one day grow up to become more successful than they could ever be. The children would have a chance to receive a better education and opportunities in life because their parents were willing to give up their executive positions and salaries for minimum wage. The parents would often times face great difficulties in adjusting because of their incoherence and accents making it impossible for them to communicate with others. Their life is filled with must toiling and pain, yet they look towards the light in the tunnel aspiring for a bright future for their children. However, has all their work gone in vain? .
A minority does not move into the dream house where the neighborhood is "paved with gold" like legends once said. Only the privileged seem to be able to afford such houses. The houses that minorities first move into are no place to raise a family. In reality the house consists of dilapidated rooms in need of much repair and the horrid smell often accompanied by the presence of rodents and cockroaches. Never do basic necessities such as hot water and heat become such precious commodities. The golden schools which parents dream about are 4 story prison cells where corruption and budget deficits outnumber books and qualified teachers.
