Golf Pro

The decision of which brand golf clubs will be used directly affects the other merchandise in the shop as well. This happens because to get the name brands such as Titliest or Callaway the pro must deal directly with representatives from each company. These big companies will not usually sell just clubs on there own without throwing in a few hats or shirts. An example of this is if a pro or manager orders from Callaway he/she will be given price cuts for the more items they purchase such as hats, balls and bags. These deals are all part of a plan by the companies to get free advertising around the globe. The stronger the relationship between the head pro and a company the better off the golf course will be. The ordering of clothing is done in the same manner. The more of one piece of clothing, such as a specific shirt, ordered, the cheaper they are for the golf course. As a professional, the ordering of spare parts for club repair and re-fitting is essential. The necessary items to be ordered includes grips, shafts, furrels, tape and the epoxy that holds the clubs together. To succeed in the business fixing and re-fitting golf clubs is a skill that must be known inside and out. Clubs must be fixed quickly but still have a high degree of precision and quality. These are a simple business skills that are needed to succeed in this filed but there are still other personal skills needed such as impeccable customer service skills.
             As a Head Professional or General Manager, being around people of all different skill levels is a daily occurrence. How a pro acts and deals with these customers will determine his/her success. Personality is a very important factor of this profession. The better the personality of the pro the more people will like to be around him/her and thus bring repeat business to the course. Aside from personality a pro must be able to perform all the services that a golf course and its patrons require.
