To allow a child to be mentally and physically active will provide that child with healthy habits that he or she can keep throughout life.
Secondly, some shows are extremely violent and can influence a child to imitate the violence he or she has seen on television. As the people of Ancient Rome were attracted to the barbaric death matches of Gladiators, today, people are drawn to violence for entertainment. A prime example of how people enjoy violence is WWE formerly known as the World Wrestling Federation. In WWE, there are good guys and there are bad guys. The good guys of wrestling become role models for children. The chance that a child would make a wrestler his role model is dangerous because the child might attempt to act out his role model's wrestling moves without thinking of the consequences. I am not saying that wrestling and wrestlers are bad, in fact, I give credit to the WWE organization for having warnings before, during, and after their television program. However, although WWE has made the effort of warning their fans, it is still the parent's responsibility to make sure that his or her child knows that most of what wrestlers on WWE perform and the characters they portray are indeed fake. To rely on warning signs from shows is not enough and show the lack of care from the parent. Parents must monitor what their child watches, especially when the child is watching violence so that the parents can teach their child that violence is not to be tolerated and not to be appreciated. Most parents might even consider not allowing their child to watch any violent television programs at all, or without supervision.
Last of all, American Prime Time television consists of sexually explicit television shows that cause children to learn about sex from the wrong source. Music videos, sitcoms, drama series, dating games, and reality shows all contribute to the awareness of sex to children.
