Gay Marriage

A battle has been in progress for years over whether equal rights and equal protection against discrimination should be extended to homosexuals. Recently this has expanded into the area of marriage. The topic of homosexual marriages is a prevalent issue today. Even in the nation's capital, representatives are finding ways to make this alliance unlawful. This topic has been debated bringing up many valid points, but the fact of the matter is that homosexual marriages are.
The institution of marriage began in the Bible, as did many of our laws. Its intent is procreation and the concept that children are best raised by one mother and one father. This is the basis for a functioning society with the interest in survival of the species. Married couples have certain privileges granted by the state, it defines family as one man and one woman because biologically and psychologically men and women were created for each other. The state grants these privileges because survival is best achieved through family as it has been defined. Yes there are extended families, single parent families and even homosexual families, these "families" are free to enter into contracts that will be recognized by the state but the state has no compelling interest in elevating these "families" as the standard. Alternate methods of raising children, though necessary, are inferior to the ideal. .
The usual homosexual propaganda is "that the elderly or sterile shouldn't be allowed to marry since it's not likely these couples would procreate". The state has no interest in doing fertility testing, that would be a bureaucratic nightmare, but since simple science tells us that homosexuals do not or will not procreate in the manner defined as sine qua non by the state there's no need to recognize it as a legitimate alternative to the archetype. I believe homosexuals who, constantly through torts and legislation, purse institutions and societal standards to recognize their "sexuality" are in great pain.
