Cloning: The process of growing an organism from a single cell by asexual reproduction. The key word in that definition is "growing." People are not grown but created by a male and female through sexual intercourse. This is how reproduction has worked for thousands of years and there is no need to change this now. Humans should not be allowed to grow or clone people as they wish. We will never allow the act of cloning because of ethical principles, health risks, and the extinction of the human race.
The idea behind cloning is to give couples who can't reproduce and opportunity to have a child. A radical religious group titled the "Raelian Movement" has developed an idea that if a baby dies at birth or during childhood they could just clone the baby so the parents could get "their" child back. They are currently claiming they have cloned a human fetus and that the child is in the last month of development. The same religious group has started a business, titled "Cloneaid", in which parents that have lost a child can come to Cloneaid and purchase a clone of their deceased child. This practice should be deemed illegal by the United States government and the UN. The procedures that Cloneaid is currently involved in are very risky and their success rate is very low, claimed the National Institute of Health. .
Growing children may be possible in a few years, but this would be inconsiderate considering the plethera of unwanted children remain in orphanages. Currently in the United States there are 75,890 orphans living in Catholic orphanages alone. This figure does not include children living in "boys homes" or in any other orphanages not run by the Catholic Church. Why would a couple want to grow a child that is not theirs, when the option of adopting a child that has no parents and is needing love is prevelent. Having a child cloned would not only take more money but would be much riskier than adopting a needy child that has no real family.
