Women Discrimination in Afganistan

The discrimination of women in Islam countries seems to be shocking for the rest of the world. The rights of Afghan women are violated by the fact that they have to wear veils, while men don't have to. This creates waves of dissatisfaction among people all over the world. However, what is important is the fact that the majority of Afghan women do not complain about wearing veils, considering themselves protected from the eyes of men who are not their relatives. I want to argue about this issue and try to see some other ways women rights are violated in connection to wearing veils. .
It is a common opinion that Muslim women are required to wear veils by their religion. However, this is not true. The Koran, the Muslim holy book, requires both men and women to dress modestly. It doesn't say exactly that women must wear veils and it doesn't also differentiate men and women in this demand. However, it became a part of the Muslim culture that women do not expose their faces to the public by wearing veils. The growing belief that such practice is common and doesn't violate the rights of women is the product of long term ignorance of men in the government concerning this issue, which is the first class violation of rights. Such policy resulted in the total conformity of women to the requirements of the Muslim society. This issue, being strictly controlled by the government is a matter of choice in the religious sense. Women actually have the right to chose, and here we encounter a contradiction - the majority of Afghan women are happy to wear veils. In one of the rare interviews to western journalists, an Afghan woman who desired not to be named said the following: "I want to wear the veil: that is not the problem, I like it. The ladies that were acquainted with the veil, the majority, they are happy with that. But the minority 10 percent who were not using veils are not happy." Another interesting thing about wearing veils is that an Afghan woman who doesn't have access to the car may find it psychologically uncomfortable to walk across the city with her face exposed to the public.
