Brave New Hope

Global economy and modern culture have a huge effect on aspirations and values of university students. Students attend university for a better life in hopes of making more money in order to purchase brand names, larger houses, faster and fancier cars or trucks. I have witnessed individuals at a former school do anything to achieve these goals. Cheating, lying and corrupting their name just to succeed at the university level. The modern culture and global economy also have an effect on students attending university. They find themselves buying the brand names in clothing, computers, and accessories adding this to their student fees and book costs. Major corporations and modern culture tell men and women what is sexy and what will make the opposite sex want you or make you more popular. Values are hurt during this process, women buying see through shirts or low cut jeans exposing more of their midriffs, just to have the new styles. Men are no different, they have the baggy jeans exposing their underwear, groping or grabbing themselves just to be like the rapper or rock star they saw on television. Their focus is no longer on God, but on everything God is not. People embrace greed, success and rubbing it in the faces of people not as successful instead of offering them a helping hand. In the I.S conference I heard Drs. Tom and Christine Sine discuss ways to help society regain control and they said the restoration of everything living in Christ meaning forget about these money making schemes major corporations have to offer and ask yourself what would God do in this same situation.
The world vision of hope I have is very similar to the I.S conference. I believe once people find God for their first time or just rediscover God and truly understand what God wishes upon us to achieve as a society we will find happiness and want material goods no more. This is easier said then done. I couldn't see myself not wearing brand name clothes or driving my new truck, or wearing my fancy watch, truth is it makes you feel good or important and it affects your social standing in society.
