When he was a child, he was the only child of a Ford Motor Executive, he had over 2,000 toy soldiers in his parents thirty-room mansion.
He went to the Claremont Men's College to study political science, the College of Marin to study acting, and The Juilliard School to study Drama for three years under John Houseman.
He is married to Marsha Garces since April 30th, 1989, and they have two children together, Zelda and Cody, along with Zachary from Robin's previous marriage to Valerie Velardi, divorced in 1988. .
Robin was the 5th in line for making the most movies in the 90's. He also developed a serious drug problem around the time Mork & Mindy was made. Mork & Mindy was his big hit, as was his movie Good Morning, Vietnam. .
