For teenagers, school is part of every day life. There are many reasons why teenagers have these different feelings, and one component is scheduling. Some people believe block scheduling is more helpful for students. However, a standard schedule would be more beneficial. The possibilities are endless: more one on one attention with the teacher, extra time for assignments, and a longer period to spend on a certain lesson or chapter. A standard schedule would be the perfect alternative to block scheduling.
A connection between the teacher and student is very important. With a standard schedule it would allow more one on one attention between the student and teacher due to the fact they would be able to interact all school year. Knowing a student more thoroughly would help the teacher understand what type of specific help the student needs.
Next, a standard schedule would allow extra time for assignments. Since teacher would have a full school year to teach their class, they could give students extra time for certain projects, papers, or reports. With allowing more time teachers would see a dramatic improvement in the quality of the students work and how much pride they put into it.
Another advantage to standard scheduling is that teachers would have a longer period to spend on a certain lesson or chapter. Instead of cramming every single bit of material into a students mind in half a year, teachers would have a full school year to thoroughly go over certain key lessons. Students can have a better understanding of certain units since the teacher has double the amount of time to spend on it.
Even though this will better students all over, some people believe block scheduling is still better than a standard schedule. They say with a longer amount of time that comes with a standard schedule, students will waste this time and put everything off till the last minute. On the contrary, with the longer amount of time students can do twice as much work as they would normally do on a block schedule.
