" This gives us an understanding that bad language is a stage all children go through may be in school, peer groups, (maybe family) and its not just books that actually violate the child's mind. In fact books use this language to teach the cons of bad language. Another censure often heard was the word "nigger", which I think, meant no offense to anyone. It's just that the book wouldn't have been successful in showing racism at the start of the book (which takes place in the past) without this word. The characters in this book that were referred to, as niggers were Calpurnia, Tom Robinson and his family and they often received sympathy from the other main characters of the book. Even those who were racists towards them finally end up realizing that they were wrong. .
In my opinion, the book sets a very good example of good and evil things, truth and rumors (chat), the identity of a person (in other words how to recognize a person) fear and ignorance experienced at least once, makes you strong to resist it the next time. These are the major themes behind the novel and do not deserve to be banned. The main idea behind the novel has to do with an understanding of prejudice. There must be something good in it in order for it to win the Pulitzer Prize, 1961, Alabama Library Association Award, 1961, Brotherhood award of National Conference of Christmas and Jews, 1961, and Best Sellers Paperback of the year award. In addition, it had been translated into 10 other languages. A New Yorker reviewer talks about the author Harper Lee and quotes, " It is not that she has written another novel about race and prejudice, but rather she has placed race and prejudice in a perspective which allows us to see it as an aspect of a larger thing; as something that arises from phantom contacts, from fear and lack of knowledge; and finally as something that disappears with the kind of knowledge or "education" that one gains through learning what people are really like when you finally see them.
