Human cloning

Should human cloning be ethically justifiable?.
As human beings should we be allowed to play god and decide whether we can manipulate the human DNA and nature so we can have designer babies ready to be implanted into surrogate mums. This essay covers the rights and wrongs to do with human cloning.
From the research I have done there are people who are against human cloning like Dr Thomas Dooley Ph D. Here is an excerpt from is speech to the us senate in April 2002, Human cloning for any reason is unnecessary and immoral. There is no scientific imperative to clone human beings or to produce human embryonic stem cells via embryo destruction. It should be noted that "reproductive cloning" and so called therapeutic cloning both utilize the same unnatural manipulations of early stage human embryos. Since human life starts as a single cell embryo by conception using natural means or by somatic cell nuclear transfer in the case of cloning experiments, cloned human embryos no matter how small represent human beings with the potential rise to adults if implanted in the uterus. The difference between reproductive and therapeutic cloning is merely semantic and differs only in the intentions for their ultimate use.
Some opponents of cloning believe that some individuals would be wronged in morally significant ways. Many of these wrongs involve the denial of what Joel Feinberg has called the right to an open future. For example a child might be compared to the adult from whom he was cloned, and thereby burdened with oppressive expectations. Even worse, the parents might actually limit the child's opportunities for growth and development a child cloned from a basketball player, for might be denied educational opportunities that were not in line with a career in basketball. Finally, regardless of his parents conduct or attitudes, a child might be burdened by the thought that he is a copy and not an original.
