Gun Control

The bullies quickly begin to retreat. The child throws up his hand in victory over the bullies. While doing this he drops the gun witch in turn goes off sending a bullet across the crowded cafeteria. The bullet pierces through the side of the first child's head who was enjoying lunch with his teammates from his little league team. Silence comes over the cafeteria. The strange silence is quickly engulfed by screams and turmoil. The screams turn into piercing sirens that quickly surround the school. Paramedics rush to the child only to find him lying lifeless in a pool of his own blood. They quickly determine that the child had passed on. The local sheriff calls his mother who is at home preparing to pick her son up from school. As she hears the news she screams in disbelief, all while calling her husband. Both rush to the scene to see their child covered by a white sheet. After hours of screaming, crying, and questions why and how; the couple returns home. The father trips over his sons baseball glove as he walks through the front door, then drops to his knees crying to himself as he realizes that there won't be a championship game. Had there been laws prohibiting the owner ship of hand guns a tragic accident like this would have never taken place, and the first child would have been able to participate in his championship game. Because there are no laws against the ownership of handguns there will never be a game again.
One of the problems we have to face today is the availability of hand guns. People ranging from, young children dealing with the school bully, to mentally unstable killers, can get their hands on a hand gun with in 24 hours. 51% of the guns used in crimes by juveniles and people 18 to 24 were acquired by "straw purchasers," people who buy several guns legally through licensed dealers, then sell them to criminals, violent offenders, and kids("The Fact"). This showing how easy it is for a weapon to fall into the wrong hands.
