             Comparison Essay.
            
             If one read Raymond Carver's Neighbors and Poe's Masque of the Red Death, the reader would notice two characters that disregarded their responsibilities. If one took the time to compare the characters of Bill Miller from (neighbors) and Prince Prospero of the (Masque of the Red Death), One can easily state the differences between the two men. Also the reader can look at the same differences can be looked at as similarities. This Comparison of the two men will list to the reader the differences, similarities and the out come of the both men's doings.
             The Differences between Bill and the Prince. Jobs/Class- Bill was a middle class man that worked as a bookkeeper for a living. He lived with his wife in an apartment building. The prince was Royalty. His occupation was a prince that was responsible for defending the land and his people. He lived in a castle with his knights and his servants. Social activity -Bill was never motivated to go out for a night on the town or take his wife on a date or vacation. Bill was not too happy with his life, that is his reason for not being motivated to go out and have fun on occasion. The prince had no choose but to stay at his home. Outside his home was very bad sickness that was wiping out the princes people. The Prince could not leave his home but he was still very happy with his life. Friends-Bill had friends that lived in the same apartment building. One can assume they became familiar because they lived close to each other. Bill's friends gave him trust and respect because he was the same as him. The Prince had friends because of political reason. People more than likely fear him more than they respected him.
             The similarities between Bill and the Prince. People depending on them- Bill responsibilities were to look over the Stones house for a few days while they went on vacation.
