It's No Miracle!

On December the 27th, a miracle was born.

"You"re WHAT?!" these were the first words out of my mouth after Mom made her announcement at the big "family meeting." "Pregnant? AGAIN?!".
"Yup!" Mom said, beaming. "Aren't you happy?".
"It's not sleeping in MY room." I replied. "And it better be a girl. That's all I have to say." I stomped away angrily. I was 12 years old. By the time IT was born, I"d be 13. 13 year olds do not have newborn baby siblings. It just didn't happen. .
For the next few months, I did everything in my power to act angry about my mother's pregnancy. I was the oldest of four kids, all of whom are boys with the exception of myself. What if she had another boy? I didn't think I could handle being the oldest kid in the family, and all of my siblings BOYS; it was for this reason that I was slightly cheered up when Mom came home from her sonogram with the announcement that my new sibling would be a girl. For months following, I constantly bantered with my mother about the fact that the doctors could be wrong as they were with my oldest brother; at the time of the sonogram, the doctors had said he was a girl. However, a few months later when he was born, it came as a big shock to my mother when the nurse had said, "Oh, what a handsome little boy! What's his name?" We went through many names for my newest sibling; though we all liked "Kaliegh", we, or rather my father who didn't like the name, finally settled on Kimi.
Naturally, 8 months later I had a baby sister. At first, I struggled against liking the little beast: I refused to hold her, would not "listen" for her in case she woke up, and I absolutely would not feed her. There came a time, however, when she rolled over and her blue eyes stared up at me that we smiled simultaneously- and then, she opened her mouth and I heard her first word to me: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" .
Since that day, I've gotten better about my attitude toward her.
