            Advertisements are sprawled across the pages of newspapers, flashed on television screens and even posted on large billboards along the highway. We are surrounded by advertisements in our every day in our lives and even if we don't read a paper, watch television or walk around with our eyes closed, we will find it impossible to avoid some form of publicity, whether it might be the latest offer at the local supermarket or some adverts on the television. Yet many people might not be aware of the impact it has on us.
             The use of advertisment is one of the major instruments in the art of selling. Advertisers use images with words beautifully strung together so that they will leave a distinctive mark on the minds and consciousness of the consumers as well as to inform and persuade the consumers. Ads that are frequently seen and heard are most likely _____ in the minds of the people. And our choices in the products and services that we patronize like the food that we eat, the clothes that we wear and the car that we drive and generally all the products that we consume are influenced and affected by their appeal created by advertisements. Though we try to disagree, it is a fact that the advertisers who make these ads try to manipulate us into buying the things that they sell.
             The definition that comprehensively sums up anything and everything about advertising is mentioned by Professor Neil H. Borden which according to him, "advertising includes those activities by which visual or oral messages are addressed to the public for the purposes of informing or influencing them to either by the product or to act favorable towards ideas, institutions, or person featured.
