Lately there have been many argumentations on whether we should legalize drug or not. Dershowits suggests that we should decriminalize drug for hard-core addicts in the medical settings. However Rangle says we should stop thinking about legalization since we will have many issues if we legalize drugs. I agree with Rangle because decriminalizing drug will establish an idea as if there will be no harm to use drug.
It is no doubt whether to legalize or criminalize drug is a big issue right now. Most of the people would disagree decriminalization. However Dershowits argues that we should legalize heroin. He states that only the hard-core addicts are the targets that can get heroin. They can only receive at mobile hospital or medical facility where it is convenient for the targets. The doctors will closely measure the quantity of heroin to each receiver so that they will not die from the overdose. He also points out that the targets should only be getting heroin inside the hospital so that they cannot sell to anyone else nor use heroin privately. Dershowits says this will not solve the entire heroin problems out there, but it can solve some of them. First of all, people will not die from overdose. Second, people will not die from AIDS that can be spread from shared needles. Third, people will not crimes to get heroin. Dershowits knows that legalization of heroin will be the conclusive answer. Even if we have medicalizing, there will be people who will be able to get it somehow. For now, this is the best way especially for the hard-core addicts who are too desperate that they would commit crimes to get it. If this becomes successful, he suggests that this program should be used for other drugs such as cocaine and marijuana.
On the other hand, Rangle oppose legalization of drug. He says if we are to legalize drug, there will be many problems than before. For example, one problem that he points out is which drugs would be legalized and which should not be legalized.
