Effects of September 11, 2001

Strong concerns about the issue of September 11, 2001 have the nation in a state of shock and fear. We have allowed the government to take control of everything including our regular day. We do not know what is going to happen next. While some may favor government intrusion, I am opposed for several reasons. Government intrusion some say has made the country more safe and secure against terrorism. Some may say that they do not mind waiting in long lines to board their aircraft and the random searches. I personally disagree.
Since September 11, 2001 the government has increased the security checks at the airports, the Mexico border and the Canadian border of the country. Which means longer lines to wait in. Some people actually take a plane to work everyday, (one of my mom's friends actually has to do this) the increased security has made it hard for them. They have to leave earlier to get to work on time and then it takes longer to get home. This means that the people who have to fly to a different place to work have less time with their families and less time to sleep. If you were to plan a vacation to a place where you had to fly, you had better plan on spending about three more hours in the airport just for the security checks. The increased security has taken away some of our freedom. Like the government has to know everything about you in order for you to board a plane. .
The September 11 attack on New York and Washington has every one of the United States citizens shaken with fear and a feeling of insecurity. The constant worry of not knowing if there will be another attack or if the government can stop them is enough to put anyone on the edge. Especially the younger generation who were not alive to experience the horrible day when Pearl Harbor was bombed. We did not know that we were capable of being attacked. We all thought that life was great and that nothing bad would happen to our nation, and we took it for granted.
