Building Programs

When a church grows the apparent would be that the church building grows with it, right? Well in some cases I believe this would be the best for the church, but in others all you need to do is reorganize things and continue on until you are in need a new facility. However when a church does need a new building, whether that be a new Worship Center, Family Life Center, Educational Building, or what ever else you may think you need, then you need to figure out whether you really need this building or whether you can live without it for a while, because a building project is a deal, and takes a lot of time and effort. You ask when do you need a new building, well here are a few reasons, your youth has over flown into your singles, or maybe your nursery kids attend with their parents, would that be a good idea, NO. So let us build a new building, ok? Another question that arises is who decides to build this new building? The pastor, no but that would help, the deacons, no that would be a good choice to, however it is the congregation that decides it is time to build a new building. So the last question that pops up is who is in charge of getting our new building start? Once again, the pastor has other duties, as well as the deacons, yet a building committee would be perfect for starting a building. They could decide on things take it to the pastor and before the church for approval and every thing would go smoothly, but not too smoothly. .
Now your question is what is a building committee right? Well, Mr. Anderson buts it nicely when he said "a church's appointing a committee is to delegate someone with responsibility and appropriate authority to conduct the building program and represent the church in working with the architect and contractor." The building committee is there to decide on what it is exactly that the church needs. First, they need to decide what the use of the new building is going to be.
