Love Of The Game

Professional baseball athletes should receive a lower salary and place more emphasis on the "love of the game." Even though some may place more emphasis on the "love of the game," most participate for the money that is involved. Money in sports is an emotional issue among professional athletes and spectators.
Professional players are supposed to bring an audience. All over the United States spectators line up to ballparks to watch and discover entertaining ways of play. In essence, professional baseball players are similar to actors, as they are full of drama. When professional players play for the "love of the game," they are bringing these attractions to sports. So why worry about so much money when you have thousands of people wanting to back you up and chant your name? .
Should professional baseball players be paid so much? Do they deserve it? Professional baseball players are the "best of the best." They train throughout their entire lives to make it to the "show." However, when they do, some do not play for the love of the game. For example, the players of Major League Baseball went on strike in 1995 due to a decrease in their salary. Most people believe that professional baseball players are not competing at the highest performance level. I believe that instead of playing the game, they are worried about endorsements and the next signing bonus, due to all the discussions of commentators, such as John Madden. In the article, "The cost of Hoop Dreams," William P. Hytche says "the average NBA salary is almost $3 million a year, yet the new collective bargaining agreement that ended this year's lockout calls for a five-year rookie "salary cap." Put yourself in the players" shoes. If you knew it would take five years to be offered a contract worth more than $100 million, wouldn't you want to start as soon as possible?" My answer to that question is, "of course.".
Another problem that may stem from immense salaries is the potential for the abuse of power that comes from having too much money.
